We are internationally known clinical microbiologists, Board Certified by the American Board of Medical Microbiology, with extensive hands-on experience in all phases of microbiology laboratory activities and services. We work directly with laboratory administrators, medical staff, infection control, and pharmacy to keep the facility abreast of the latest in microbiology services and diagnostic approaches and to anticipate and solve problems.

Michael Miller, Ph.D., D(ABMM), Director
Dr. Miller is retired from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) after 35 years where he was the Associate Director for Laboratory Science for the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases. Dr. Miller did his undergraduate work at Northwestern State University in Louisiana and completed his Graduate work at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
He spent 12 years in the Division of Training for CDC, then 12 years directing CDC reference laboratories. For five years he led the Laboratory Response Network – the LRN- a consortium of the nation’s reference laboratories for the detection and confirmation of agents of bioterrorism. As Chief Science officer for a major National infectious disease center, he facilitated the science components of CDC’s responses to all foodborne, vector-borne, enteric, water-borne, zoonotic, and many viral diseases, healthcare associated infections, and bioterrorism laboratories. He holds a number of adjunct professorships and has served on the editorial board of several journals. Currently, he is the Director of Microbiology Technical Services, LLC.
Dr. Miller is a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Microbiology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology and former member of the Board of Governors, and holds a Clinical Laboratory Director License in Georgia and Microbiology Laboratory Director License for New York and New Jersey. He is the former Dean of the American College of Microbiology within the ASM. He is the author of two books, the editor of three books, has contributed chapters in ten published texts, and has over 100 journal articles in peer-reviewed publications.
Robert C. Jerris, Ph. D. D(ABMM), Senior Consultant
Dr. Jerris completed his undergraduate work at Florida State University and his graduate work at Emory University in Atlanta. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Microbiology with over 30 years of experience in Public Health, Adult and Pediatric hospitals and currently serves as Director of Microbiology for one of the most prestegious pediatric hospitals in the U.S.
His expertise is in antimicrobial resistance, rapid diagnosis (conventional and molecular), and clinical and microbiological pathogenesis of bacterial, viral, fungal and mycobacterial infections. In addition, he is a Licensed Clinical Laboratory Director for Georgia. He brings experience in Infection Control and day to day interaction with laboratorians, nurses and clinicians. He has authored numerous National Guideline documents, contributed chapters to numerous texts, and publishes in a variety of peer-reviewed journals. He is a recognized leader in clinically relevant and dozens of cost effective outcome based National projects.
